Player Software

The Player Software page is where you upload and manage the software packages that run on your display player devices. It stores the installation files that can be pushed to players as over-the-air (OTA) updates, keeping your fleet on a consistent, up-to-date version without visiting each device.

Navigate to: Sidebar → Player Software (under Administration)

Each display in your network runs a player application (such as the Xibo Player for Android or Windows) that communicates with OTS Signs to download and play scheduled content. When a new version is released, upload the installation package here and push it to your devices remotely.

The Player Software page lists all uploaded packages with:

ColumnDescription
VersionThe software version number
TypeThe player platform (e.g. Android, Windows)
CodeInternal version code used by the player for update comparison
File NameThe name of the uploaded installation file
SizeFile size
UploadedDate the package was uploaded
  1. Navigate to Player Software in the sidebar.
  2. Click Upload.
  3. Select the installation file from your computer (.apk for Android; installer packages for Windows and other platforms).
  4. Click Upload.

The package appears in the list once the upload completes.

Once a package is uploaded, configure player devices to download and install it via their Display Profile. In the profile’s Player & Updates settings, set the Software Version field to the uploaded package. Displays assigned to that profile download and apply the update during their configured update window.

To download a previously uploaded package to your computer:

  1. Find the package in the list.
  2. Click the three-dot menu → Download.
