Resolutions
A screen’s resolution defines the pixel dimensions of its output (width × height). Resolution is set when you add or edit a screen, and it affects which layouts and media fit correctly.
Common resolutions
Section titled “Common resolutions”| Resolution | Name | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 1920 × 1080 | Full HD (1080p) | Most commercial displays |
| 3840 × 2160 | 4K UHD | Large format / high-DPI displays |
| 1080 × 1920 | Portrait Full HD | Vertical / kiosk screens |
| 2160 × 3840 | Portrait 4K | Vertical large-format screens |
Setting resolution on a screen
Section titled “Setting resolution on a screen”When you add a screen or edit an existing one, you set the Resolution Width and Resolution Height in pixels. See Adding a Screen.
Resolution and layouts
Section titled “Resolution and layouts”Layouts are designed at a specific resolution. When assigning a layout to a screen, the player scales the layout to fit the screen’s actual output. For best results, design layouts at the same resolution as your screens — this avoids scaling artefacts.
Resolution and playlists
Section titled “Resolution and playlists”When creating a playlist, you can optionally set a Resolution Width / Height constraint. Playlists with a resolution set will only match media that fits within that resolution.
