Timeline Editor
The Timeline Editor is the visual interface for building and editing playlists. It shows your playlist as a horizontal sequence of blocks, each representing a media item with its duration and transitions.
Opening the Timeline Editor
Section titled “Opening the Timeline Editor”From the Playlists page, click any playlist name, then click Edit Timeline. Or create a new playlist and the editor opens automatically.
The Timeline View
Section titled “The Timeline View”The timeline displays items as colored blocks arranged left to right. The width of each block is proportional to its duration.

| Item block | A media item. Shows a thumbnail, name, and duration. |
| Duration handle | Drag the right edge of a block to change its duration. |
| Transition indicator | A small icon between blocks showing the transition type (cut, fade, slide). |
| Total duration | Displayed at the top-right of the timeline. Updates as you edit. |
Adding Items
Section titled “Adding Items”Click the + button at the end of the timeline or between existing items to open the media picker. Search or browse your library, select items, and click Add. Items are inserted at the position you clicked.
You can also drag items from the Media Library directly onto the timeline.
Rearranging Items
Section titled “Rearranging Items”Drag any item block left or right to reposition it. A vertical insertion line shows where the item will land. Drop to confirm.
Changing Duration
Section titled “Changing Duration”Each item has a default duration based on its type:
- Images — 10 seconds (configurable).
- Videos — the video’s full length.
- Documents — 15 seconds per page.
To change an item’s duration, drag the right edge of its block or double-click the block to enter a specific time.
Setting Transitions
Section titled “Setting Transitions”Click the transition icon between two items to change the transition type. Options include Cut, Fade, and Slide. The transition duration is configurable (0.5–3 seconds).
Expiry Dates
Section titled “Expiry Dates”You can set an expiry date on individual items in the timeline. When an item expires, it is automatically skipped during playback. The item block is dimmed in the editor to indicate its expired status.
Saving
Section titled “Saving”Click Save to persist your changes. The playlist is immediately available for use in schedules and layouts. Unsaved changes are highlighted with a warning if you navigate away.
