Priority & Conflicts
When multiple schedules target the same screen at overlapping times, Stratos uses a priority system to determine which content plays. Understanding this system helps you avoid unexpected content swaps.
How Priority Works
Section titled “How Priority Works”Every schedule has a priority number. When schedules overlap:
- The schedule with the highest priority number wins.
- If priorities are equal, the most recently created schedule wins.
- Overrides always win regardless of priority.
Priority Levels
Section titled “Priority Levels”While you can use any number, these conventions are helpful:
| Priority Range | Purpose |
|---|---|
| 1–10 | Background / default content. Always-on branding, informational slides. |
| 11–50 | Regular scheduled content. Daily promotions, menu rotations, announcements. |
| 51–90 | Important content. Time-sensitive campaigns, event-specific content. |
| 91–99 | Critical content. Emergency messages, compliance notices. |
| 100 | Reserved for Overrides. |
Identifying Conflicts
Section titled “Identifying Conflicts”The Scheduling page highlights conflicts with a warning icon. Click the icon to see:
- Which schedules are overlapping.
- Which schedule will win.
- The affected screens and time periods.
Resolving Conflicts
Section titled “Resolving Conflicts”Adjust Priority
Section titled “Adjust Priority”The simplest fix is to raise or lower a schedule’s priority. Click the schedule → Edit → change the Priority number → Save.
Narrow the Time Window
Section titled “Narrow the Time Window”If two schedules don’t need to overlap, adjust their time windows so they run at different times.
Use Different Screens
Section titled “Use Different Screens”If the content is only relevant for certain screens, narrow the schedule’s targets to avoid overlap.
Conflict Detection Rules
Section titled “Conflict Detection Rules”Stratos detects conflicts based on:
- Screen membership — do both schedules target the same screen (directly or through a group)?
- Time overlap — do the schedules’ time windows overlap?
- Date overlap — are both schedules active on the same date?
If all three conditions are true, a conflict exists and priority determines the winner.
