Widgets

The widgets you can place on a layout: text, clocks, weather, menu boards, feeds and more.

A widget is live, configurable content for a layout element: a clock that always shows the right time, weather that updates itself, a menu that pages when it’s too long. Click Widgets in the designer’s top bar to open the drawer.

The widget drawer in the designer

  1. Click Widgets and search, or browse by group: Text, Design, Time & date and Live data.
  2. Pick a widget, then a preset (a ready-made look) from its gallery.
  3. Click the canvas to place it, or use Add to the center of the canvas.
  4. Adjust it in the inspector’s Content tab. Fine-tune the look in Style.

Each widget ships with several presets. Choosing one sets its settings and a matching element style and size in one go. Reset variant returns to the preset’s values, and settings that are really your preferences (such as 24-hour time) are kept when you switch presets.

Instagram and LinkedIn widgets are marked coming soon and show a placeholder until they launch.

News, Ticker, Calendar, Reviews, Social Feed and Markets read from a feed: a data source you connect once in Settings → Feeds and then pick in the widget. See Feeds.

Build sections and items in the inspector. Choose columns, whether to show descriptions, badges and dietary icons, the currency symbol and the price and header styles. When the menu is too long for the element, it pages automatically (you set the Time per page and Transition).

Choose Location source: this screen’s own location, or a specific city or coordinates. Pick units, how many hourly or daily steps to show, and which details appear (feels like, rain chance, wind, UV, sunrise and sunset and more). Assign screens a location so “this screen’s location” works.

Enter the Page address. The editor shows the page in a frame. Some sites refuse to be framed (they send X-Frame-Options or a frame-ancestors policy), so they appear blank in the editor. The Display with option can use a live web view on the player, which isn’t limited that way, but only the player can show it. You can set Reload every N minutes, scrolling and zoom.

Clock, date, countdown and calendar widgets can follow the screen, or use a fixed Timezone and Language & region.

Published layouts keep using the widget version they were published with, so a widget update never changes a live screen unexpectedly. Drafts are upgraded to the newest version, and the next publish picks it up.
