Screen Settings

Name, locate, size, group and configure the fallback content and time zone of a screen.

Open a screen and choose the Settings tab to change how it is named, where it is, what size it is and what it plays when nothing is scheduled. You need screens:write to edit. With read-only access the fields are disabled.

The Settings tab of a screen

A save bar appears when you’ve changed something. Click Save to apply, or Cancel to discard. A banner confirms Screen settings saved.

SettingWhat it does
NameHow the screen appears everywhere in Stratos. Required, up to 200 characters.
LocationThe physical place the screen is installed. Its time zone and weather follow the location. See Locations. Use Manage locations to add one.
ClassificationA free-form tag for your own targeting and reporting, such as lobby, drive-thru or checkout.

Match these to the physical panel so layouts render at the right size and orientation.

  • Resolution: width × height in pixels. Leave blank to use what the player reports.
  • Rotation: 0°, 90°, 180° or 270°. Use 90° or 270° for portrait-mounted screens.
  • Screen group: schedules that target the group also play on this screen. See Screen Groups.
  • Folder: folders control browsing and access. Click Move… to pick another folder. Moving applies immediately, without Save. See Folders.

Schedules on a screen run in that screen’s time zone. Stratos picks it in this order:

  1. The screen’s own Time zone, if you set one.
  2. The screen’s location time zone.
  3. The workspace time zone (Display & Publishing).
  4. UTC.

The first option in the picker is Inherit… and names the zone it would use, for example Inherit from location (America/Los_Angeles). Choose a specific zone only when the screen differs from where it’s located.

Fallback content plays whenever nothing is scheduled. Click Change… to choose a playlist, layout or single media file. This applies immediately, without Save. If you don’t set one, the screen uses the Workspace default from Display & Publishing, and if that is empty too, an idle screen is blank.

Delete screen… permanently removes the screen and unpairs its player, which frees the screen license. It needs screens:delete and asks you to confirm. This cannot be undone. The physical player goes back to showing a pairing code.
