Documents & Presentations
Import PowerPoint, Word, Excel and PDF files as slides, pages or video and control their timing.
Stratos turns presentations, documents, spreadsheets and PDFs into content that plays on a screen: one image per page or slide, or a single video.
Import options
Section titled “Import options”When you choose a PDF or Office file in the upload dialog, an import panel appears.
| Option | Applies to | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Output | Office files | Slides (one image per slide, page or sheet) or Video (one MP4 for the whole document). |
| Timing | All | How many seconds each page shows. You can also set individual pages. |
| Slide range | PowerPoint | Import only slides from – to. Blank means all slides. |
| Page range | Word, PDF | Import only pages from – to. Blank means all pages. For Word it’s applied after conversion. |
| Skip hidden slides | PowerPoint | Leaves out slides marked hidden in the source. |
| Sheets to import | Excel | Choose which sheets become pages. Include hidden sheets lets you pick hidden ones. |
| Transition | PowerPoint video | Cross-fade length between slides. |
| Keep original file for download | All | Stores the source file beside the rendered version, so people can download it. |
A pages grid lets you drag pages into order, skip ones you don’t want and set a time for individual pages. Skipped pages aren’t imported.
How it plays
Section titled “How it plays”In Slides mode the document becomes a file that steps through its pages, each shown for its duration, then moves on. Add it to a playlist like any other media. In Video mode you get a normal MP4.
The Slides tab
Section titled “The Slides tab”After import, open the file and use the Slides tab to edit it:
- Reorder, include or exclude slides, and change each one’s timing.
- Delete a slide permanently. You can’t delete a slide used in a playlist, schedule or override, and you can’t delete the last slide (delete the file instead).
- Save your changes, or discard them. A banner warns about Unsaved changes.
You can also change timing from the library with Edit page timing.
- Use the 16:9 slide size for landscape screens and keep text large.
- Remove speaker-notes pages and hidden slides before presenting on screens (or skip them on import).
- For a live-updating spreadsheet or dashboard, a Web Page widget is a better fit than importing a snapshot.
- Re-importing creates a new file. Edit the original’s slides if you only need to change timing.
